Designing the perfect wetroom

Wetroom bathrooms have long been popular when adapting bathrooms for people with disabilities, but they are now becoming more and more popular as a design-led bathroom due to the sleek finish which is often created.

Within a wetroom the shower floor is level with the bathroom floor thus creating a sleek, streamlined finish. However, wetrooms can be costly and time consuming to plan and install. There are many issues which you will have to take into consideration if you are planning to convert your bathroom into a wetroom.

First of all you will need to take accurate measurements of your room, including the exact location of doors, windows, pipes, etc. Of course, your budget is also a prime consideration. It is actually worth setting aside a small percentage of your budget in case of unforeseen difficulties. Once you have done this you will have an idea of the money you have to work with and whether or not you can actually achieve the look you are planning with the money you have.

You should also get quotes from several fitters/plumbers as costs can vary. If you feel that you have the skills then you may wish to consider doing the job yourself but only if you know what you are doing since this is intricate, time consuming renovation work.

Finally you will have to be honest with yourself regarding the overall look you wish to achieve and whether or not this will be possible with the budget you have or the existing condition of the room. Some people actually opt for a low level shower tray as a concession to the completely tiled floor.
